Test Post Number 2

Drive Unit: The drive unit frame rests on a concrete footing. The mechanical power is provided by a high-efficiency three phase gear-motor with an integral brake. The motor is powered by a variable frequency drive that continually monitors all motor parameters, and allows for gradual acceleration and deceleration. The gear-motor is mounted to a steel drive shaft which turns a galvanized or stainless steel cable drum. The cable drum is grooved to eliminate cable chafing and to ensure proper placement of the cable onto the drum. The drum is engineered to accommodate two cables, providing a working load limit 10 times higher than the rated capacity of the tram.
